Time Flies

Have you ever looked at a calendar and said, "Holy cow!  Is it really almost_________!?"  Well, that's certainly how I felt today when I wrote September 21 on my whiteboard at school.  I mean, October is only a week away!  How did that happen?  It seems like only yesterday that I found out I was pregnant and we started to think about our future.  Now, we have about 4 months until this little boy arrives and there is SO much to do!  Our list just seems to be growing, but I guess I need to stop and remember how much we have accomplished in the past 5 and half months.
  • We moved!  And we LOVE our new house.  Granted, there are still piles of boxes lying around, we have empty rooms and are still buying furniture...BUT we love it!  It is our home - ours to do with as we please and grow into with our family.  Not to mention that we have stunning views of the mountains, great neighbors and are close to work.  The cats love it here, too, and we always hear them tearing across the floors chasing each other around.  Of course, Stella has her perches where she can do some quality bird hunting.  :-)
  • I started a new job!  I love it - the resources, how much the community cares about the kids and my coworkers who have been so nice, welcoming and supportive of their new, pregnant teacher.  :-)  Granted, the school district is heading downhill and fast, but I still absolutely love what I do!
  • Andy is finally healed from his broken leg!  WOOHOO!!!  That was a loooooooooooooong few weeks there and we are both so happy that he is back on his legs and off of those crutches.  He has some rehab to go, but it is just basically building his strength back up and improving his range of motion.  Andy has been informed that broken bones won't really go over well once there is a baby in our life, so he is planning how he can incorporate more golf into his schedule.
  • We found out we are expecting a baby!  And now, we know our little bundle is a boy!!!  I used to joke with people that I wanted a boy because I didn't want to deal with puberty, but we would have been happy with a healthy little girl.  When we went to Target for our first outfit, Andy was HIGHLY relieved that we were having a boy, but only because he wouldn't have to shop for little girl toys.  Ha ha!  Finding out he's our little man has made all of this seem so much more magical and has made all of the pregnancy aches, pains and blahs that much more manageable.  We cannot wait to meet this little man and hold him for the first time.
Oh my, there are so many other things that we have accomplished, but now we need to do some baby shopping...I had NO clue that we would need so much!

Love and hugs to all,
Gretchen, Andy & Lil' Brahm
